Tofacitinib citrate is a rheumatoid arthritis drug developed by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, under the trade name Xeljanz, for moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis with insufficient response or intolerance to methotrexate ( RA) Adult patients. This product is a Janus kinase inhibitor, taken twice a day. On November 6, 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Pfizer jointly announced that tofacitinib citrate was approved by the Chemicalbook for moderate to severely active patients with insufficient response or intolerance to methotrexate therapy. Adult patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Xeljanz can be used as a single treatment or in combination with methotrexate or other non-biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARD). The drug should not be used in combination with biological DMARDs or strong immunosuppressants (such as azathioprine and cyclosporine). The approved dose of Xeljanz is 5 mg twice a day.
